5 Tips Every Homeowner should know:

Is your house making you sick? These 5 tips can help.

Tip #1: Replace Your HVAC Filters

Even if you haven’t used your system recently, it’s a good idea to check the filters every month for dust and dirt. We advise that you regularly replace the old filters in your HVAC system at least once every 3 months.

Tip #2: Remove Debris from Your Sump Pump

Check your sump pump once a month and remove any accumulated debris so the system can do its job properly.

*Bonus: It is easy to test your sump pump by pouring water over it and making sure it drains quickly.

Tip #3: Seal Doors and Windows

The weather can take a toll on many parts of your home, including the seals around your door and windows. Having spaces in these seals can lead to higher heating and cooling costs. Sealant or caulk can fix this problem relatively quickly and won’t break the bank.

If you see any indication of mold- typically greenish or black spotted patterns- found on damp walls, floorboards (concrete and drywall), basements, bathrooms, ceilings, etc.- you should address it right away.
